Daisuke Oba

Specially Appointed Assistant Professor
Okazaki Laboratory, Institute of Science Tokyo, Japan.

I am working on natural language processing and machine learning advised by Prof. Naoaki Okazaki, with a strong interest in generative models such as diffusion language models [ICLR2026] [arXiv2026] [arXiv2026] and in test-time scaling of LLMs [ICLR2026] [ICML2026].

Previously: I led an ML team as a Lead AI Engineer at ELYZA Inc, developing japanese large language models such as Llama-3-ELYZA-JP-8B. I received my PhD in March 2023 at the University of Tokyo, advised by Prof. Masashi Toyoda and Prof. Naoki Yoshinaga. Since my visiting to the University of Liverpool during my PhD, I have been collaborating with Prof. Danushka Bollegala.
